Mission

Stories are immensly important to us, no matter what form they take. We love to identify ourself with their characters, and we fundamentally like creative stories that still convey something new.

This is precisely why Johanna Gardy’s goal is to bring creative and original stories to the general public, while not forgetting about the joy that readers seek in books.

Furthermore, Johanna Gardy strives to combine the traditional with the new, for example by pairing the quality of the stories with the advantages and comforts offered by the eBook form.

I have a great respect for the human nature and find it endlessly fascinating as thinking and sentient beings who examine the world around them. However, alongside individual thoughts, I am interested in how people from different cultures find the different answers to the same questions? Ultimately, who or what is the individual human being behind culture? Is there a difference if, for example, someone is distant because of their cultural background, or because that’s one of their personal traits?

In addition to trying to make the depths of the human soul understandable to myself, it is impossible to ignore the fact that humans, by adapting to their environment, have developed many different worldviews, attitudes and ideas.

A significant proportion of my studies have focused on international life, including culture, politics and economics. Another significant area of study for me has been psychology and its various branches. These two areas of study fuelled my interest in creating the world of The jackrabbit in the mountains, in which I seek to combine them. Thus, the protagonist’s story largely takes place in another culture, which gradually reveals itself to the person who has immersed themselves in it. At a certain point, we are no longer talking about culture, but only about one person’s ideas, and we return to the previous question:

What is the difference between someone who is distant because of their cultural background, because they are used to this behaviour, and someone who is distant by nature? Is there any difference at all? This question can be asked about most of our personal traits…

What we think about ourselves is actually our own nature, or are our ideas much more influenced by our cultural worldview than we realize?
